Technological advances in decentralised renewable energy, energy storage, e-mobility, digitalisation, AI and IoT are transforming the energy landscape and accelerating the global energy transition. However, progress towards universal access remains slow, leaving hundreds of millions behind and unable to benefit from these innovations. while resources for innovation in energy access face more constraints. At the same time, the resources and mechanisms available for fostering innovation in the energy access sector are becoming increasingly constrained.

Against this backdrop, the session will explore key questions: How can the sector harness innovations emerging across the wider energy ecosystem? What innovative business models, partnerships and public sector approaches are needed to leverage opportunities and accelerate progress? Bringing together diverse perspectives to explore the sector’s innovation needs, showcase promising solutions and partnerships, and discuss how public and private actors can work together to unlock the next generation of innovations for scalable and inclusive energy access.
