The toolkit of financial instruments has grown with innovative approaches such as demand-side subsidies, energy-as-a-service, pay-as-you-go and results-based finance. Yet households furthest from energy access remain the hardest to reach.

This session takes stock of what has been tested, what has worked for which segments, and where the limits of market-based approaches lie. Implementers, private sector actors and critical voices will evaluate whether current financial tools match last-mile realities and explore solutions to close the accessibility gap.
