Strategic transport corridors are reshaping agricultural trade across Africa by improving market access, reducing logistics costs, and strengthening regional value chains. This session explores the commercial opportunities emerging along the Lobito Corridor (Port of Lobito and Caála Logistics Platform) and the Northern Corridor, with a focus on agro-logistics, agro-processing, cold chain development, and port infrastructure.
Along the Lobito Corridor, investments in the Port of Lobito, rail and road infrastructure, and the Caála Logistics Platform are strengthening export routes for agricultural products. Milestones such as the first EU-certified avocado shipment from Huambo to Rotterdam demonstrate the corridor’s growing potential to connect African producers with international markets, while increasing private sector interest in agribusiness and value-added processing.
For the Northern Corridor, initiatives are focused on developing cold storage facilities, consolidation centres and cool ports, alongside digital customs systems and trade transparency platforms to facilitate efficient cross-border trade. A strategic shift from air to sea freight aims to reduce transport costs and emissions while strengthening resilient regional food systems.

Speakers will highlight how investments in logistics platforms, ports, cold storage, customs digitalisation, and transport infrastructure are creating new export opportunities for agricultural products while supporting sustainable economic growth. The discussion will examine how Dutch expertise in logistics, infrastructure, port development, food systems, supply chain innovation, and public-private partnerships, including the role of Team NL and Invest International, can contribute to these rapidly developing corridors, creating opportunities for partnerships, investment, and long-term market entry. Countries of Focus: Angola, Zambia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda.
