Water security, not just availability, but reliable, climate-resilient access, is fast becoming a determining factor for where industry, agriculture and economic corridors can grow in Africa. With water demand in sub-Saharan Africa projected to rise 163% by 2050 and droughts tripling in frequency since the 1970s, the region's economic zones and industrial growth ambitions increasingly depend on water infrastructure that is both climate-resilient and circular.

This session will explore groundwater management, drought resilience, and circular water treatment for industrial and economic zones, blending nature-based, ecosystem-level water management with hard infrastructure for industry. Drawing on active Netherlands Enterprise Agency programmes (Partners for Water, Blue Deal, WaterWorX) and Dutch private sector experience already delivering in African markets, the session identifies where water security investment unlocks broader economic growth, and where Dutch expertise is best placed to contribute. Countries of Focus: Egypt, Kenya, South Africa/Mozambique
